Bamboo-Viscose Fabric Care Guide
Bamboo-Viscose Fabric Care Guide
Tiny Jams sleepwear is made from bamboo-viscose - a naturally soft, breathable fabric that your little one will love. A few simple habits will keep it looking and feeling its best, wash after wash.
🧺 Washing
-
Machine wash cold (60°F / 15°C or below). Hot water is the #1 cause of shrinkage and softness loss in bamboo-viscose.
-
Use a gentle or delicate cycle with a slow spin.
-
Choose a mild, fragrance-free detergent - harsh detergents and enzyme-based formulas can break down the fibres over time.
-
Avoid bleach and fabric softeners. They damage the fibre structure and reduce the fabric's natural softness.
-
Turn garments inside out before washing to protect printed surfaces.
-
Wash with similar colours and weights to prevent pilling from abrasion.
🌬️ Drying
-
Tumble dry on low heat or air dry flat for best results.
-
Avoid high heat - it is the leading cause of permanent shrinkage in bamboo-viscose garments.
-
Remove from the dryer promptly and gently reshape while still warm to maintain fit.
-
Do not wring or twist - lay flat or hang to air dry if possible.
🗄️ Storage
-
Store clean and fully dry - even slight moisture can encourage mildew or odor in natural fibre blends.
-
Fold rather than hang to prevent stretching at the shoulders.
-
Store in a cool, dry, ventilated space away from direct sunlight, which can fade prints over time.
📐 Fit Preservation
-
Bamboo-viscose has natural stretch, but repeated high-heat drying will cause it to tighten and lose its drape.
-
If a garment feels snug after washing, lay it flat while damp and gently stretch it back to shape.
-
For the best long-term fit, size up if your child is between sizes - our pajamas are designed for a comfortable, relaxed fit.
🧵 What to Expect from Bamboo-Viscose
-
Softness: Bamboo-viscose is exceptionally soft when new. Following cold-wash and low-heat care will preserve that feel longest.
-
Pilling: Minor pilling can occur from friction (especially in high-wear areas like knees and underarms). Washing inside-out and using a gentle cycle minimizes this.
-
Shrinkage: Some minimal shrinkage is normal on the first wash. Washing cold and drying on low heat keeps this to a minimum.
-
Color: Prints may gradually soften with repeated washing - this is normal for all printed knit fabrics.
